The Fila Fresh Crew was a rap group originally based in Dallas, Texas, known for their West coast style. The group consisted of Fresh K, Dr. Rock, and The D.O.C. (referred to as Doc-T at that time). Dr. Rock's affiliation with Dr. Dre while working as a DJ for the World Class Wreckin' Cru led to Fila Fresh Crew's inclusion on the N.W.A. and the Posse compilation in 1987. In the following year, the trio released some material through Macola Records, although they disbanded by 1988. Doc-T subsequently changed his name to The D.O.C. and played a significant role as a writer for various tracks with Ruthless Records (later Death Row Records), including contributing to Eazy-E's debut album and working with the newly formed gangsta rap group N.W.A.
However, The D.O.C. is most notably recognized for his 1989 debut album, which featured the popular single "It's Funky Enough". During this time, Dr. Rock continued to release the works of his former group and released a solo album in 1991 under the pseudonym Fela Fresh Crew.
